Praying for Healing for our World..."if My people which are called by My Name shall humble themselves, pray, seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven, heal their land, and forgive their sins."  2 Chron. 7:14.  Father keep our people safe as we protest the injustices amidst this pandemic.

In the name of Christ Jesus, our Savior.  Amen.

Our Mission

The mission of Mount Pleasant A.M.E. Church is to minister to the spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional, and enviromental needs of all people by spreading Christ's liberating gospel through word and deed.  At every level of the Connection and in every local church, the African Methodist Episcopal Church shall engage in carrying out the spirit of the original Free African Society, out of which the A.M.E. Chruch evolved: that is to seek out and save the lost, and serve the needy through a continuing program of preaching the gospel, feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, housing the homeless, cheering the fallen, providing jobs for the jobless, administering to the needs of those in prisons, hospital, nursing homes, asylums, and mental institutions, seniors citizens' homes, caring for the sick, the shut-in, the mentally and socially disturbed, and encouraging thrift and economic advancement.

From the Pastor’s Pen:

When Paul and Silas were praying and singing in prison, we don't know the hymn or songs they were singing. It may have been, "Satan had be bound, Jesus lifted me!"  When I was in trouble, Jesus Lifted Me!" or maybe it was "Jesus Keep Me Near the Cross, there's a precious fountain, free to all a healing stream, flows from Calvery's Mountain!"  But whatever the song(s) were, they got God's attention and set fire in the hearts of those who heard. Let us Praise our Lord, that others may believe.

"And they said, "believe in the Lord, Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and Your household."  Acts 16:31

Prayer: Father, indeed, we are thankful for Your presence in our lives. We thank You for Your gift of life given to all who believe in You. We asked You to pour more of You in us as we give more of us to You.  We believe You, "Inherit the praise of Your people."  Thank You for Your love and presence in our lives.  In the Name of Jesus our Lord, we pray.  Amen.

"God has given us today: now let us give God the Glory."

What makes us safe in times like these?  Knowing we are covered by the Blood of Jesus!  Jesus said, "Let not your hearts be troubled, believe in God, believe ye also in me."  God has us covered!

We are the church where: "Everybody is Somebody" and "Christ is the Center of our Praise!"

Pastor and Sister Alexander invite you to come and share the warm spirit of the people of God as we worship the Lord together at Mount Pleasant A.M.E. Church.  We are delighted to have the opportunity to serve God in this high honor.  It is only by the Grace of God that we share these liberties before us.   So we welcome all to celebrate the Gift of Life given to us through the Blood of Christ.   It is with boldness that we lift up Christ, the Cross, and the Banner on which stands our faith.  We desire only that the Word of God be heard, felt, and lived in our lives and shared so that others my know that the God we serve: "has no respect of persons."

APRIL 14,2024 - SERMON NOTES

SCRIPTURE:

SCRIPTRUE: Psalm 138… Key verse(s) 7-8

SUBJECT:

“Covered by the Grace of God!”

The Lord knows the plans He has for each of us. We confirm this by singing, “Guide Me O Thy Great Jehovah, lead me through this Barren Land. I am Weak but You are mighty, hold me with Your Powerful Hand” Isn’t that what we sing?  “Where He Leads Me, I will follow. I’ll go with Him, with Him, all the way.”  Church, we go through knowing God’s Love and Mercy will Lead us, and His Grace will be our Protection!  David, in this 138 Psalm, let us know he is confident in God’s Devine Protection! I tell you, when the enemy tries to take away our joy, our peace, the faithful know our faith is our protection.  Some find themselves amid trouble, they ask why me?  Hope is where there is life, otherwise, we die spiritually.  Church, we know, “all things will work together for our good” because, God has a way of opening private streams so our souls can drink.  When David was in trouble, David found rest in The Lord and the Lord place David under His Devine Protection, for David, said, “with His Right Hand, He saved me.”  Church, when we are confused, burdened, messed up, Jesus, said, Come unto me…”  Jesus lets us know all who trust in Him, are covered by the Grace of God!

David declares, “I will sing praises to my God standing before other gods.” David lets us know, he will sing before his enemies, even the angels, and tell the goodness of the Lord. On last Sunday, I told you “God sits High/He looks Low!”  He is the Great “I Am” and He is always right where we need Him!  Looking low, covering us with his Love, Grace, and Mercy!  Covering us in a time of need, always ahead of us, making a way.  Church, God will protect us from our enemies.  Sometimes God may use us to destroy our giants like He used David. David knew five smooth stones was not the only help he needed. David said, “I come, but I come in the Name of the Lord.”  Taking the Lord with us let us know, “No weapon formed against us shall prosper and every tongue that rises up against us, shall be condemned.”  Whatever giants we have, because we are covered by the Grace of God, I tell you, they can fall!

Everything that has breath, Praise the Lord because God is always making a way!  God made a way when we were in trouble, lost a loved one, couldn’t see our way, but despite our trials, God keeps on making a way, in sickness, in hardship, because we are covered, by the Grace of God, isn’t He alright….
